'Folk at Norden Farm'

A series presenting some of the very best acoustic folk and roots acts in the country.

Sunday January 27

NARTHEN – Life Beyond Coope, Boyes & Simpson - Featuring Barry Coope and Lester Simpson from Coope Boyes and Simpson, Jo Freya (Blowzabella, Moirai) and Fi Fraser (The Old Fashioned, Polka Works) – this is a quartet of suburb vocal harmonies and multi-instrumentalism. As seen with Michael Morpurgo and on their own as the Christmas band Hark Hark. After a summer of gracing festival stages, the band are now being referred to as a new supergroup. They feature songs that will touch your heart, engage your intellect and wow your ears!

Wednesday February 27

JOHN KIRKPATRICK - John is a leading interpreter of English folk song and has also established an enviable reputation as an instrumental virtuoso (melodeon, anglo concertina, button accordion). He has been a member of the Albion Country Band, Magic Lantern, The Richard Thompson Band, Steeleye Span and Brass Monkey, to name just a few. John's buoyant presence & lust for this music sounds more rampant than ever - fRoots.

Wednesday March 20

MEGAN HENWOOD & FINDLAY NAPIER. The Story Song Scientists. - BBC Folk Award winning singer-songwriter Megan Henwood creates folk roots music of beguiling purity and Findlay Napier is one of the finest songwriters and storytellers of the contemporary Scottish folk scene. Their collaboration has led to the creation of songs about a hermit known as The North Pond Phantom, Georg Cantor’s struggle with infinity, maths and God and something about Shepherds and leaders! Megan has moved far beyond parameters into a world where anything is possible - R2 Magazine.

Sunday April 7

FAMILY CEILIDH with NEDRON’S JIG - A live band, easy to learn dance steps and lots of laughter for a Sunday afternoon. Join us for a reel and a jig around the Long Barn. A great way for families to spend some fine quality time together.

Saturday April 27

CEILIDH with NEDRON’S JIG - You’ll be in safe hands with the expert calling and playing from our band Nedron’s Jig. Between them they play squeezebox, fiddle, mandola and bass. The caller will guide you through the dances and the four musicians are two from the folk super-group Feast of Fiddles and two from the band Phungus. A social evening of dance in our 18th century Long Barn - no experience necessary!
